The microbiota-immunity axis is crucial for human health and illness. The functions mediated by the "microbiota – immunity axis”, when in balance (Eubiosis), allow a more effective response towards pathogens and a good recognition of non-dangerous antigens; vice versa the dysbiotic bacterial flora favor dysregulated immune responses promoting different diseases, including autoimmunity, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

To understand the fine mechanisms that modulate this axis is crucial elucidate the pathogenesis of these diseases and favor new therapeutic approaches.
