The capercaillie, an important umbrella species, is declining in Europe. The main causes are habitat loss and nest predation. Since 2019, we have been tracking which predators pose the greatest threat. Between 2024 and 2025, we continued our experiments using camera traps to reveal which predators are actually responsible for the nests destruction. We will present these results at an upcoming talk in Brno.
